The boat of project 21980 and vessels of project BLV03 will take all stages of sea trials and state tests

Zelenodolsk Plant named after A.M. Gorky (part of the Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation of the Ak Bars Holding Company group of companies) on October 10, 2021, sent a special-purpose boat of project 21980 and two pilot ships of the BLV03 project to external delivery bases. This was reported by the press service of the plant.

The vessels will have to take all stages of sea trials and state tests.

Vessels of BLV03 project developed by "Marine Engineering Bureau" are Ice3 ice-class pilot vessels that designed for staging and servicing of navigation equipment; delivery to onshore facilities of aids to navigation equipment and radio-technical aids to navigation equipment, specialists, supplies and property, as well as other activities and works as part of hydrographic support for merchant shipping in the water area of ​​the Northern Sea Route (NSR, Sevmorput).

These vessels are built as part of the Federal Target Project "Northern Sea Route" under the program of the State Corporation "Rosatom" for the construction and modernization of the hydrographic fleet for the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Hydrographic Enterprise". The program provides for the construction of five new vessels and the modernization of three existing ones by 2024. The vessels are expected to be used for work in the water area of ​​the ports of the Northern Sea Route in order to ensure the safety of navigation and the development of port infrastructure.

The boats of this project have been constructed at Zelenodolsk Plant named after A.M. Gorky since 2008. The project developer is Vympel Design Bureau (Nizhny Novgorod).

They are designed to protect water areas of naval bases of the Russian Navy. Modern equipment and high seaworthiness allow the boats of project 21980 to solve a wide range of tasks typical of ships of much larger draught.
