Russian authorities see business demand for the Northern Sea Route

Russian authorities see business demand for the Northern Sea Route, said Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, speaking during a government report in the State Duma.

"In terms of shipbuilding, last year the construction of a new serial nuclear-powered icebreaker was completed, which received the wonderful name "Siberia". Now there are 3 more such nuclear-powered ships on the stocks. This is the basis of the future locally produced ice fleet. They will be able to provide traffic along the Northern Sea Route all year round. We see business demand for these routes, especially in the current situation, and we are consistently solving the task set by the president to increase cargo traffic to 80 million tons by 2024," the prime minister said.
