In 2021 subsoil users in Chukotka mined 20% more silver than last year

Subsoil users of Chukotka extracted 120 tons of silver in 2021, which is 20% more than in the same period last year. The volume of production and gold increased by about 4%, Grigory Dyachkov, head of the industry and subsoil use department of the regional department of industry, told TASS.

"In total, the enterprises of the district mined over 23 tons of gold this year, which is about 4% more than last year. The volume of silver mining this year has also significantly increased - by a little more than 20%. In total, the subsoil users of Chukotka mined 120 tons this precious metal, "said Dyachkov.

He added that the coal mining companies of the peninsula have also made significant progress. They increased the volume of coal mined by almost a third. The production of natural gas and brown coal remained at the last year's level.

Chukotka Autonomous Okrug possesses resources of gold, tin, silver, copper, lead, zinc, tungsten, as well as coal, oil and gas, underground drinking and mineral waters, widespread minerals, ornamental and semi-precious stones. He is the leader in gold mining in the Far Eastern Federal District.
