SSK Zvezda began cutting steel for the fifth LNG carrier in the ARC 7 series

SSK Zvezda has started cutting steel for the fifth LNG carrier in the ARC 7 series. This was reported by the press service of the enterprise.

The ships are constructed as part of the Arctic LNG-2 liquefied natural gas production project. The license for the Mark III membrane-type LNG storage system was obtained after successfully passing an audit by the French engineering company GTT. It should be noted that the shipyard was the first to receive this license among Russian shipyards.

The design of the gas carrier allows it to independently overcome ice more than 2 m thick. Additional assistance in this will be provided by three propellers, the production of which is localized in Bolshoy Kamen at a joint venture between Rosneft and the GE company.

The main sponsor of the project and charterer of the cargo is the Novatek company. The contract for the construction of the ship was concluded between SSK "Zvezda" and the companies of the VEB.RF group in December 2019.

The length of the ship is 300 m, the width is 48.8 m, the capacity of cargo tanks is 172.6 thousand cubic meters, power plant capacity - 45 MW.

The delivery of the ship to the customer is planned for the end of 2023.
